Nearly a third of workplace injuries are caused by slips, trips, and falls. This figure could be significantly decreased with just a few minor adjustments to working methods and attitudes.
This course will introduce you to some statistics on trips, falls, and slips as well as debunk some common misconceptions about them. It also discusses the legal aspects of trips, slips, and falls, including real scenarios showing when things have gone wrong and what could have been done better. The course also discusses some easy modifications that can be made in most businesses to drastically lower the likelihood of a slip, trip, or fall incident happening. The last module takes this a step further and examines this issue from a management standpoint.
What you’ll learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Recognise that Slips, Trips and Falls are their own individual hazards in the workplace.
- Understand and apply current legislation and reflect on the duty of care between employer and employee.
- Recognise the seriousness of these risks to individuals and business.
- Identify the major causes of Slips, Trips and Falls and be able to create a task analysis to assess these risks.
- Understand how safety management systems can help reduce risk
