The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 applies to all workplaces regardless of the number of employees. This order mandates requires employers to provide adequate training in fire awareness for all members of their staff.

Individuals who have received training to assist with emergency fire evacuation procedures at businesses and other organizations are known as Fire Marshalls (also referred to as Fire Wardens). Workplaces are required by law to have enough Fire Marshalls on their staff to handle emergencies involving fire.

This course starts of by looking at the chemistry of fire and the most common causes of fires before exploring safety features in buildings and what to do in cases of fire. Statistics and fire safety legislation will be covered along with preventative measures. The role of the Fire Marshall is examined in detail with a focus on the appropriate actions on fire discovery, fire drills and evacuation, fire extinguishers and action.
