RPA – Our Story
From tiny acorns…
Our journey started in 1999 with the birth of fit testing in the UK, when no one (bar a few experts ‘in the know’) knew what fit testing even was. As women, in what was (and still is) a male-dominated industry, we had our work cut out, but those who know us know that we love nothing more than a challenge!
Are we qualified?
Of course. All our trainers and fit testers are Fit2Fit accredited for both Qualitative and Portacount (Quantitative) fit testing and we were the very first Fit2Fit accredited operators in the UK. We were also the first company to have a Fit2Fit approved training course and Claire and Karen are both Fit2Fit assessors, so who knows, one day we may be assessing you!
‘A huge thank you to you and your team for the programme of Face Fit Testing you ran for us over the past six months. The feedback from our regional directors was nothing short of brilliant and your trainers were professional, efficient and went the extra mile to help us. Nigel’
‘Please pass on our thanks to Ian for delivering the Portacount training. He’s a super guy with a wealth of knowledge and we all enjoyed the course and his delivery. Richard’
‘Thank you so very much for sending our order so promptly, the masks are in use this afternoon. Please thank the other staff involved I appreciate their great efforts. Rod’
There’s no ‘I’ in team
Any successful company knows that team-work is key and any great team needs a leader (well, two in our case). So who are we? We’re sisters (not telling who is the oldest!) born and still living in Bristol. Our early career paths took us in opposite directions: after gaining a first in Chemistry, Karen worked at BIRAL as product manager for the TSI Portacount; Claire followed a career in sales, marketing and finance working with large corporate clients. These separate skills came together perfectly when we made the choice to start our own business and the rest, as they say, is history.
