Asbestos is probably the most dangerous building material ever used. Although its use is now highly regulated, asbestos was widely used by the construction industry up to the year 2000. Every year thousands of people develop diseases and die because of exposure to asbestos.

The Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) cover all work with asbestos containing materials. These Regulations apply to employers, employees, self-employed persons and duty holders. Regulation 10 of CAR states that every employer must ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to employees who are liable to be exposed to asbestos. This includes maintenance workers and others who may come into contact with or disturb asbestos.

Being aware of the products that are likely to contain asbestos and the risks associated with them give workers and supervisors the information they need to avoid work that may disturb asbestos. The course is approved by leading industry bodies CPD the IATP. Online training is flexible, meaning the candidate can progress through the modules at their own pace and in their own time.

What you’ll learn

• In addition to providing information about the dangers of working with asbestos, this course will also help delegates to learn how to identify materials that contain asbestos, where it was used, steps they can take to reduce the risks, and the laws that are relevant to working with asbestos.
• Each module concludes with a number of multiple-choice questions; in order to pass the course, candidates must score 100% on each set of questions. Before submitting their answers, candidates have the chance to review all their responses at the end of each module, and have three chances to achieve the required outcome.
