Description
What’s covered
Sexual harassment is unwanted conduct of a sexual nature, and can be one of the most difficult situations a worker can face. Workers are protected by law from sexual harassment, however handling accusations of sexual harassment can be difficult, and if not done correctly can lead to the company being held liable along with the perpetrator of the harassment.
The first part of this course will define sexual harassment and explain how it is protected by both criminal and employment law. Statistics about the workplace will show you how widespread and serious the issue is, as well as how frequently management’s response to complaints is subpar or non-existent. Additionally, it discusses how allegations should be handled, emphasises the value of having strong, clear policies, and describes the typical approach line managers take in handling these circumstances. The course also covers investigation from the viewpoint of the employer, the function of employment tribunals, and concludes with a few case studies that will provide additional insight into what constitutes harassment and the results of situations where businesses failed to respond to this behaviour in an appropriate manner.
