What’s covered

This course is aimed at managers and staff in all industries who have a critical role to play in reducing drug, alcohol and substance misuse in the UK. You’ll learn in-depth information about commonly used drugs including cannabis, cocaine, heroin, LSD, ecstasy, and some modern ‘designer drugs’, and take a look at the official statistics.

In terms of alcohol abuse, the course will teach you how to implement a 4-stage plan to handle any issues, including how to create a strong drug and alcohol policy. Beyond this, the course will cover the law in this area, how to recognise signs of drug abuse, and putting workplace solutions into action.

The course also discusses how the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) can support the creation of appropriate management processes and suitable alcohol and drug policies. Finally, the course examines current drug therapies as well as external support options that are open to both individuals and organisations.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:
