With over 10 years experience of Face Fit Testing we provide TSI-authorised training, technical backup and fit test consultancy services for Portacount users throughout the UK. All our trainers are experts in RPE Fit Testing and have a wealth of experience of practical fit testing with every type of mask.

Competent TSI Portacount Fit Test Operator Training is a Full Day course aimed at those who require an in-depth knowledge of Face Fit Testing using the TSI PortaCount. This course covers the Competent Fit Test Operator criteria set out in HSE282/28 but also includes many additional practical elements including troubleshooting, how to  plan and manage a fit test program and an advanced practical session.

Information Document HSE 282/28, recommends that RPE Fit Testing should only be conducted by a trained competent person. To be competent, the fit test operator should have adequate knowledge and have received adequate instruction and training in the following areas:

  • Regulations and Guidance
  • The Purpose and Applicability of Fit Testing
  • Procedures for Selection of Adequate and Suitable RPE
  • Fit Factors and Protection Factors
  • Examination Procedures for RPE, Identification of Maintenance Problems
  • Correct Donning Procedures and Pre-Use Fit Checks
  • Qualitative and Quantitative Face-Fit Testing
  • Sampling from the Facepiece
  • Diagnostic Checks on Equipment
  • Correct Fit Testing Procedures, Purpose of the Fit Testing Exercises
  • Problem Solving
  • Capabilities and Limitations of the Fit Testing Equipment
  • Interpretation of Results

Our Respirator Face Fit Training courses are both theoretical and practical. They aim to give candidates the skills and knowledge to meet the requirements of HSE282/28 for Competency of Fit Testing Operators.
