10th September 2009 - RPA are very proud to be the first fit test providers in the UK to have been awarded accreditation under the new Fit2Fit Competency Scheme.
The Fit2Fit scheme is designed to assess the competency of any person performing facepiece fit testing against the competency criteria set out in Hse282/28.
Recent market research indicates that up to 50% of all RPE used does not offer the wearer the level of protection assumed and one of the major reasons is that it simply does not fit!
In view of these major concerns the British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF), along with the HSE and other industry stakeholders have developed a competency scheme for Fit Test Providers. The Fit2Fit scheme, for the first time in the UK, will provide a basis to confirm the competency of fit test providers.
Assessment is made through a multiple choice question paper followed by a further assessment in practical ‘live’ fit testing. RPA have achieved accreditation in all three major Fit Testing methods including Qualitative Fit Testing, Quantitative Fit Testing (TSI Portacount) and Quantitative Fit Testing with N95 companion.
We will continue to offer our full backing and support to HSE and BSIF in the implementation of the Fit2Fit scheme and in improving the profile and standard of Fit Testing in the UK.
